The idea of the Nature Southend project was very much inspired by the need to respect and celebrate the everyday creatures that share our environment. I realised I needed to pull myself up over this. I spent a couple of hours taking photos of the sea loving birds along the shore. Wonderful. Mingling amongst them were a selection of starlings, rooks and pigeons so I included them. However, I soon realised I was favouring the more unusual pigeons - the ones with the 'pretty colours' that stood out. So instead I share the very 'ordinary' pigeon from my neighbour's roof as it looked at me looking at it while I waved my camera about hopefully. I do tend to go for camera shake freedom over tripod stability when I'm out and about - but that is probably fairly obvious! This pigeon had a partner but that portrait may be for another day.
